Walling principles

  • You will achieve the best results when using KB-BLOK systém materials by joint walling. The joint thickness is 8-10 mm. If you are not sure about the thickness of mortar, you had better use walling fixtures from steel bars with a 10 mm diameter.
  • Use cement mortar on principle. We recommend our KB-BLOK systém Special Walling Compound.
  • Finish visible joints as you lay the blocks. You will achieve better results and eliminate the risk of contamination of the visible building block surface if finishing the joints later.
  • Use a rubber or wooden mallet for laying the blocks.
  • Adhere to the elementary, generally applicable process rules such as walling and concreting reinforcements at a minimum temperature of +5°C and minimum temperature of the concrete mixture of +7°C.
  • Hollows in the building blocks are not all intended for filling; only where absolutely necessary for structural reinforcement, on recommendation of the structural engineer based on project documentation. Use a soft C16/20 concrete for filling the hollows of the concrete building blocks.
  • Inserted concrete shall be compacted, e.g., by piercing with a steel bar.
  • All KB-BLOK systém building blocks are designed with a partition slit for halving as required for the wall composition. For other dimensional modifications, the building blocks are best cut or drilled.
  • When laying the blocks, pay increased attention to neatness so as to prevent unnecessary contamination of the visible side of the building blocks.
  • The basic modular system width and height is 200 mm. Therefore adjust the external dimensions of the building envelope to multiples of the modular width of 200 mm. Likewise, the heights of the visible façade elements should be multiples of 200 mm.
  • The outer dimensions of windows and doors should be corresponding to multiples of 200 mm.
